Fred Durst Featured in Another A24 Film, This Time About Fighting Robots During Y2K
For those of us that lived through it, 1999 was a magical time. Nu metal was poppin’, we hadn’t yet had the world get turned upside down in the 9/11 attacks, and things just generally seemed like there were lower stakes attached with everything (well, if you were a kid that is). It was also a time when we all thought the world was going to end when all the computers on the planet switched from “99” to “00” as we entered the year 2000.
A new sci-fi horror/teen comedy movie titled Y2K is going to take that last concept and play it out to our worst fears at the time. Starring Jaden Martell (It), Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) and Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), the film focuses on a group of teenagers celebrating New Years Eve, with one particularly nerdy boy trying to gain the affections of the girl of his dreams. Of course, the eponymous Y2K bug causes technology to gain sentience and an insatiable drive to kill all humans.
The film also features Limp Bizkit frontman and dude who definitely wishes it was 1999 again, Fred Durst, who’ll be playing himself. Though he’s seen bald and a little ragged in the image above, the trailer also has him donning the red cap and apparently performing, so maybe we’ll get some “Nookie” to kill robots to.
Eagle-eyed fans will note that this isn’t the first time Durst is featured in an A24 film this year. Back in May we reported on the fact that he was also featured in I Saw The TV Glow.
Y2K will be available in theaters on December 6.
