Looks Like Kylesa’s Planning a Reunion
A little over eight years ago, Kylesa posted an update on their Facebook, effectively ending their 15 year run as a proggy, psychedelic sludge metal band. At the time, they said it was “time for a break” after so many years of “nonstop touring and writing.” Reasonable requests, for sure. And in a bid to not leave fans waiting for anything, they warned that they had “no plans to play any shows or work on any new material.” Make no mistake, they were done for the time being.
Fast forward to a couple months ago and the band announced they’d signed with Mythos Management for “some uniquely cool projects for the future and on ways to preserve our past.” Then earlier today, they posted yet another update, only this time it featured a 21-second vignette of past live footage with text that read “Keep moving, don’t look back, 2025.”
Now, I don’t know about you, but when I see a post like that, it usually means one thing — they’re reuniting. I mean, at this point it would have to be crazy to be anything but, given how other things have gone with other long since considered defunct bands.
Before you go off and start screaming to your friends online that Kylesa’s for sure returned based on what I just said, remember to keep it cool. First off, they didn’t actually say they were getting back together and secondly — I can be a dumbass. I don’t personally know the folks in Kylesa, so I can’t definitively say they’re getting back together. I’m just basing my assumptions on how other bands announced reunions…
We will just have to wait and see what comes next. My money’s on a reunion…
