Galder Parts Ways with Dimmu Borgir After 25 Years

After a quarter of a century playing guitar with symphonic black metal band Dimmu Borgir, guitarist Tom Rune Andersen Orre (a.k.a. Galder) announced that he was making his exit from the group. Revealing his decision through an Instagram post yesterday, Galder said he’d already played his final show with the band.

Yesterday I played my last show with Dimmu Borgir. After almost 25 years of making music and playing with Dimmu Borgir I have decided to leave the band.

I have been thinking about this for years and as many of you have been pointing out – it’s time for Old Man’s Child to get on stage again and finalizing the new album.

I wish the best for the other members of the band moving forward.

Having been with Dimmu Borgir since 2000, he played guitar for a majority of his time there, though he’d also done some bass work for a number of years. He’d appeared on all five of the band’s major releases, starting with 2001’s Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia.

As he mentioned in his statement, Galder’s going to be bringing back his other project, Old Man’s Child. In the statement, he revealed that the band would be working on their new album.
