Defeated Sanity Return with “The Odour of Sanctity,” New Album Coming November

0

For the first time in four years, German technical brutal death metal outfit Defeated Sanity are back with a skullcrusher of a new single with “The Odour of Sanctity.” Not only that, but they’ve also announced a new full-length titled Chronicles of Lunacy that’s due out on November 22 via Seasons of Mist.

If you’re at all familiar with Defeated Sanity, then you know they do not fuck around. If you did forget, however, “The Odour of Sanctity” is enough of a reminder all on its own. Featuring pummeling rhythms, biting guitars, and Josh Welshman’s abyssal vocals, it’s absolutely punishing. But then you throw in the jazz-inspired off-kilter delivery the band’s been known for and you’ve got one of the more sonically interesting acts out there right now.

Drummer Lille Gruber said they’re remaining experimental with the new stuff, but they also opted to bring the pain.

“The last few DS albums leaned heavily on the proggier side of our sound We still like to experiment, but on our new album, we wanted to get back to the raw slamming that our fans love about Psalms of the Moribund or Chapters of Repugnance”.

“In true DS fashion, ‘Odour’ showcases the full range of our sound. It’s freaky but also unrelentingly brutal, which represents the crossroad that we ended up at on Chronicles of Lunacy. Even though the album can get pretty fucking weird, there’s still a emphasis on straight-up slamming.”

Chronicles of Lunacy will be released on November 22 via Season of Mist, but you can preorder and pre-save your copy today.
