Heavier Trip Brings Back Impaled Rektum in Heavy Trip Sequel – Watch Trailer
Remember that one movie that gave us that one meme of like, the “preppy ass girlfriend and her metalhead boyfriend eating ice cream” or whatever? Well, this has NOTHING to do with that. Heavy Trip was that Finnish black metal comedy movie about a band called Impaled Rektum just trying to fucking make it, ya know? Now the sequel, Heavier Trip – Road to Wacken, is them making it EVEN more. Watch the first official trailer below.
As the very straight-to-the-point name sums it up, Heavier Trip follows Impaled Rektum as they try to get out of jail and make it to Germany’s famed Wacken Open Air Festival. Mischief and hilarity ensue.
Bloody Disgusting, who teamed up with Doppelgänger Releasing to release Heavy Trip back in 2018, basically summed up the plot like this:
“The most ferocious death metal band in the world, Impaled Rektum, is incarcerated in a Norwegian prison when they discover that the guitarist’s family is facing significant financial trouble. In an effort to assist them, the band breaks out of prison and embarks on a journey through northern Europe to perform at the largest and wildest metal festival in the world: Wacken.
“Deceived by an dishonest record label legend and pursued by a murderous prison guard, numerous adventures await them; but their ultimate challenge becomes maintaining the band together amidst this chaos.”
Doppelgänger Releasing, owned by Music Box Films, solely owns the rights to Heavy Trip now and have taken to tackling the sequel on their own.
Juuso Laatio and Jukka Vidgren, who were first time filmmakers with Heavy Trip, have also returned to do the sequel, and had this to say of the film, the fake band and their real style of music:
“If there’s one thing the world needs, it’s feel-good movies about dudes who play symphonic post-apocalyptic reindeer-grinding Christ-abusing extreme war pagan Fennoscandic metal. We’re so excited to bring ‘Heavier Trip’ to audiences in North America and make lots of noise with this sequel’s release!”
The world premiere for Heavier Trip – Road To Wacken is set to be announced soon, along with a theatrical and home entertainment release this November.
