Sentient Sh*tstain Andrew Tate Pees His Britches Over ‘Satanic’ Gojira Performance
Online “influencer” and accused human trafficker Andrew Tate is upset at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Not because his favorite teams or athletes aren’t performing well, nor is it because he maybe lost some money betting on the games, no that would be normal. Instead, he’s out here decrying the “Satanist” agenda on display during the opening ceremony that happened last Friday, as every far-right grifter on the internet is wont to do.
While the entire metal community bands around Gojira for their stunning performance during last Friday’s festivities, online commentators have been losing their fucking minds over the admittedly dark at times imagery used. They also have been getting bent out of shape over the appearance of drag queens during one segment and a Last Supper motif in another, but that’s honestly to be expected.
Yet while Gojira’s portion was to reference directly to the French Revolution and the bloody period in their home country’s history with all the decapitated Marie Antoinettes and their venue of choice being the Conciergerie, Tate only saw Satan.
Retweeting a clip of Gojira’s performance that was posted by an account called “Concerned Citizen” (with the check mark and everything so know where they stand on things…), Tate said the following nonsense:
“Satanists control the west and they show you that they worship the devil.
“It’s not a conspiracy theory.
“They literally show you.
“Are you blind?”
Nevermind the historical significance of the piece, or the fact that art can and should provoke thought and discussion. Forget that Gojira is comprised of four Frenchmen representing an entire musical genre and their homeland. Nope, it’s Satan. You’d think the Satanic Panic died in the 80s, but between this and everything else religious zealots got all up in arms about, it’s obvious that brain rot is alive and well.
Whatever. Gojira’s set was cool as fuck and Tate’s got more important things he should be focusing on. Like not committing sex trafficking (allegedly) and staying out of Romanian jails.
