Ripped to Shreds Streaming New Single “Perverting…”, Announce New Album Sanshi

California death metal motherfuckers Ripped to Shreds have a new slab of music coming out this September and your first exposure to it is the ridiculously long titled “Perverting the Funeral Rites, Stripping for the Dead”.

Set to release on September 27 via Relapse Records, Sanshi features 10 new tracks. According to the band, the whole album pulls from a “morbid fixation on death and the afterlife in the context of traditional Chinese folklore.” For example, the aforementioned “Perverting…” was inspired by “obscure funeral rites in Taiwan, wherein exotic dancers perform lithe rituals for living and dead alike.”

Sounds like a wild scene.

Speaking more about the single, Ripped to Shreds said its choice as the world’s introduction to Sanshi made sense, since it allowed them to hit the ground running.

“We wanted to come out of the gates swinging with our most morbid and grinding material yet. ‘Perverting…’ showcases our new live approach with constant vocal and solo tradeoffs, and we shot the video in Taiwan with a real Daoist priest as a natural extension of RTS’ narrative approach to songwriting.”

Sanshi will be released on September 27, but you can preorder your copy today.

Sanshi Track List:

  1. Into the Court of Yanluowang
  2. Force Fed
