A few days ago, the Spiritbox camp were hit with some incredibly sad news, as it was announced that their former bassist Bill Crook had passed away. Crook was a member of Spiritbox from 2018 to 2022 and was credited for providing backing vocals on the band’s 2021 album Eternal Blue.

Days after his passing was confirmed by Kai Turmann, a friend and former bandmate in A Textbook Tragedy, Spiritbox posted a fond farewell via social media:

Over the weekend, various musicians posted their own remembrances for Crook. Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante posted “I loved you. I love you. I always will.” Meanwhile, Spiritbox guitarist Mike Stringer shared a number of photos featuring himself and Crook along with his condolences.

“I’ll miss you. Thank you for being my friend, and my brother. I love you Bill.”

News of Crook’s passing became public when his mother asked Turmann to share the news. In the subsequent post, Turmann reflected on his extensive friendship with Crook, who had known each other since they were kids.

“Hi everyone. I have some absolutely devastating news to share. I’m so profoundly sad to say that our dear friend Bill Crook has passed away. He was a friend to so many, and a dear friend to me since we were children. Bill was, and is, loved by so many people, and I’m so incredible sorry to have to share this devastating information with you.

“There will be many words and many tears, but for now I just need to get the terrible news out. Im so sorry. I love you all. I love you Bill.”

Once again, our condolences go out to Crook’s friends, family, and former bandmates. From all accounts, he seemed like a stand up dude and we hope you can all find some semblance in solace despite the loss.
