Behemoth Win Yet Again in their Polish Coat of Arms Case

0

Metal bands already get enough of a bad rap for various reasons. While some of them absolutely fuckin deserve it, others are just straight up trying to live their damn life. That’s exactly what happened with Behemoth, who have been dealing with the malarky of their home government for the last seven years. After going back and forth legally with the Polish government three times now, it seems like they’ve formally gotten some fuckin relief. Frontman Nergal took to the band’s official Instagram page late last week reveling excitedly in the band’s triumph.

As a refresher—rewind the clock back to 2017 when Nergal, whose real name is Adam Darski, along with the band’s merch designer Rafal Wechterowicz and their website runner Maciej G., were accused by the Polish government for besmirching and offending the Polish coat of arms via a design they used on a band tee. The government took them to task twice before court-wise, with the third bout happening this week.

After a very emphatic declaration of “ANOTHER VICTORY FOR ORDO BLASFEMIA!” (since Darski praises his organization Ordo Blasfemia for fundraising enough to battle the suit), he wrote this with honor with the accompanying post on their profile.

“Thanks to your immense support and donations, we have once again overcome these superstitious bullies! After 8 years of NONSENSE, The Regional Prosecutor’s Office of Gdansk has withdrawn its prosecution/persecution of Behemoth for allegedly insulting the Polish emblem.

“We love and honour our beautiful country in Poland and we are disgusted by the claim put forward purely out of Christian spite. With that said, we are very proud to announce the Emblem design will be making its return to the Behemoth Webstore exclusively, once all proceedings have concluded.

“Once again, THANK YOU for your undying support! Hail Satan. Hail Freedom.”

Considering how dealing with legalese and the government are the worst things to have to do ever in life, we’re happy for Darski and the Behemoth gang with their victory.
