Overkill Bassist D.D. Verni Voices Preference for Physical Music Over Spotify

0

Overkill bassist D.D. Verni recently voiced his support for physical product over downloads and streaming. In a recent interview with The Metal Gods Meltdown (transcribed by Blabbermouth) Verni said:

“When I buy music now, I’m not like a Spotify guy or whatever…. If I hear something on the radio, it’s, like, ‘Oh, there’s a new track from JUDAS PRIEST,’ I’ll be, like, ‘Oh, wow. And I’ll go, I’ll buy the record. And I’ll play it in the studio. I’ve gotten into some Spotify stuff now for the first time, ’cause my kids put it on my phone. I’m, like, all right, it’s pretty convenient, I’ve gotta say. But I still get the disc. And I still find out about music the same way — somebody tells me, or I saw a video, or I saw something on Blabbermouth and I was, like, ‘Wow, that’s a great song.’ Yeah, that’s still the same way for me.”

Nothing makes you sound youthful like admitting that your children have to put apps on your phone for you. That being said, I also use a combination of music streaming and physical albums on vinyl. As convenient as something like Spotify may be, it still gives very little money to the artist, so it’s better to buy as many physical albums as you can to support the artists.

Another way to actually support the artist is to see them live, so here’s the European tour dates for Overkill with support from Spanish thrash band Angelus Apatrida.
