Black Sabbath’s Ozzy and Geezer Butler Lace Up for Soccer in Aston Villa x Adidas Ad
Now, I’m not going to pretend I know shit about shit when it comes to football/futbol/footie/soccer, so I’m sure this article’s gonna piss off all of our non-U.S. readers. Still, I couldn’t bass up a chance to highlight the “Prince of Darkness” Ozzy Osbourne looking lively and ready to hit the pitch for a real fun Adidas commercial.
Posted earlier today on social media, the ad is to highlight the fact that Aston Villa has new official merch available through the major fashion company. In the ad, we see Ozzy calling Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, saying it was time to “play Villa Park.” For those that know (and those that totally didn’t have to look this up) Villa Park is the soccer stadium that Aston Villa plays in – and has played in – since 1897. Being from Birmingham, it only makes sense that Ozzy would be involved.
When introduced as the “Prince of Darkness” on the stadium’s PA system, a player asks who that is, followed by Ozzy rightfully calling himself the “biggest frontman to ever come out of Birmingham.”
It’s real nice to see Ozzy up and about, making jokes and even playing around with the notion that he can stand up long enough to play soccer.
Anyone else suddenly want to buy some “Preds” — whatever those are…
