No, That Wasn’t Creed Playing the Republican National Convention

If you’ve been watching the Republican National Convention on television, you’ve had to sit through a lot of unbelievable shit. And while there’s plenty to talk about the policies and rhetoric spewed each night, one of the weirdest sights was former President, presumptive Republican nominee, and massive shit-goblin Donald Trump exited the stage to the tune of Creed’s “Higher.”

No, that wasn’t actually Creed playing the song, although I wouldn’t be surprised if Stapp booked himself a gig at the RNC. According to Loudwire, that was the RNC house band, country rock band Sixwire.

Sixwire got in a little extra playing time after a teleprompter malfunctioned, giving them a chance to play some covers. Their overall setlist for day one of the RNC included some surprising bangers like Cheap Trick’s “I Want You to Want Me,” Foo Fighters’ “Learn to Fly,” and Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re an American Band.” I really don’t want to like these guys since, at the end of the day, they are a band that’s willingly playing the Republican National Convention, but they did play some surprisingly good songs — and Creed.

So no, it’s not Creed at the RNC, but if you still want to see Scott Stapp as a musician supporting a megalomaniacal U.S. President, he’s going to be making his acting debut playing Frank Sinatra in the upcoming Ronald Reagan biopic that comes out next month. The trailer for the movie definitely makes it out to look like a big conservative circle-jerk about Reagan, so Stapp’s involvement in it is tantamount to playing the RNC as far as I’m concerned. The only way I’d watch this movie is if they replaced Dennis Quaid in the starring role with Randy Quaid. Shitter’s full…of commies!
