Rob Halford Gives Update on His Prostate Cancer, Confirms He’s Still in Remission

Cancer is evil, and not the fun, metal kind of evil, a much lamer kind of evil. Fuck cancer, now and forever. But every now and then you get a story about triumphs over that evil fuck, cancer, and we have to take a moment to celebrate those victories. Specifically, we’re happy to report that Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford’s prostate cancer is still in remission.

In a recent interview with LifeMinute (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), Halford confirmed he was still in remission and emphasized the importance of regular cancer screenings:

“I’m good, thank you so much for asking. I’m in remission. I always take an opportunity to thank the Lord for me being here still, but also my great medical team. And guys, be proactive. Make sure you get your blood work done, your PSA [prostate-specific antigen] checked. I couldn’t believe how efficient and the love and the care and the attention that health workers give to each and every one of us.

“I had my prostate removed. I had some meds and follow-up treatment found a little bit more stuff, so we had to go in for two months of radiation treatment.

“You do what you’ve gotta do. The important thing is to stay optimistic, stay positive.

“I love my family, my healthcare people that want the best for you.So you can push through it. So anybody that’s struggling with that right now, keep that heavy metal faith.”

It’s good to hear that Halford’s cancer remains in remission, because cancer is a scary thing. And Halford is right, you have to get regular cancer screenings, whether that means prostate screenings, HPV and pap tests, mammograms, colonoscopies, whatever your health care professional recommends. And if any of that makes you uncomfortable, try to focus on how metal cancer screenings are. Some of them even involve blood!
