Gaerea Announce New Album Coma, Drop New Single “Hope Shatters”
Like an enigma spawning from the mist, Portuguese extreme metal act Gaerea are back with the announcement of a new album coming later this year, titled Coma. Set to release on October 25, the new album will feature 10 new songs, including the newly released single “Hope Shatters” available wherever you get your music.
Though myself and other metal media folks generally consider Gaerea a black metal band, they nixed that notion in their announcement, stating that they’re “breaking to the forefront of extreme metal.”
“Though their new album was produced by trusted confidant Miguel Tereso, it broadens the band’s signature sound by taking it in two seemingly opposed directions. There are more moments of intense beauty, but they only heighten the ensuing blows.
“The world may be as hopeless as the album’s lead single declares. But with Coma, Gaerea have returned to prove that they are only the band who can guide us into the darkness.”
Now, “Hope Shatters” may be the first official single for the new album, but it’s not the first song we’ve heard. That designation comes from the previously shared “World Ablaze,” which is also on Coma.
Coma will be released on October 25 via Season Of Mist, but you can preorder/pre-save your copy today.
