Dino Cazares Compares Fear Factory‘s Transgression to Metallica’s St. Anger

0

There are some things you just don’t use as insults, and comparing anything to Metallica’s St. Anger is one of those insults that’s a little bit below the belt. If Simon Cowell on America’s Got Talent told someone that they were “The St. Anger of magic acts,” I’d just feel bad for them. Anyway, Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares thinks one of the Fear Factory albums that he wasn’t on sounds like St. Anger. Ouch.

Cazares got into the subject of Transgression on Twitter when a fan asked him to make the two albums that were recorded during the years between when the band reformed without him and when he returned to the band in 2009, Archetype and Transgression available on streaming services. Cazares responded:

“I do not own any rights to  Archetype or Transgression so that means I can not do anything like add them to Spotify or re-release them. Please share this so I don’t have to keep answering this question”

That started a conversation about the two Dino-less albums, and Cazares said that Transgression reminds him of St. Anger:

“I sure one of u is going to cry that I said this but here it goes.

I was never into the album ‘Transgression’ it reminded me of Metallica’s 2003 album St. Anger. The song ‘Transgression’ reminded me of the song ‘Frantic’

Riffs ,played high on the fret with the low string”

However fair that comparison may be, I hope the other band members are wearing a cup when they read that one.

Anyway, if you want to catch Fear Factory live where they will likely not play anything off of Transgression, here’s their upcoming tour dates:
