Rachel Bolan on Skid Row Vocalist Search: “We’ve Got a Couple Guys on the Radar”

It’s time for another episode of everyone’s favorite reality show, Who Wants to Be the Singer of an Aging Metal Band? Previously, Skid Row’s most recent vocalist, Erik Grönwall, left to focus on his health and treating his leukemia. The band got Lzzy Hale from Halestorm to fill in on vocals for a few shows, leading them to state that they’re considering not hiring a male for their next vocalist. A reunion with Sebastian Bach was categorically ruled out by Dave “Snake” Sabo, and Bach confirmed that a reunion was not in the works.

In a recent Q&A session with Skid Row at the Days of the Dead horror convention (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), bassist Rachel Bolan gave a rundown of the band’s recent activities, including an update on the search for a new singer:

“We’re always writing, throwing ideas at each other. Right now we’re in the middle of looking for a singer. I hear all you guys rolling your eyes already. Our [last] singer, Erik [Grönwall], left to prioritize his health, [which was] understandable. So right now we’re just taking our time, because we have time. And we’ve got a couple guys on the radar that we’re gonna audition. And there’s also a couple of our friends that wanna do what [HALESTORM’s] Lzzy Hale did and sit in [on lead vocals] for a few [SKID ROW] shows. And that’s fun too. That was so much fun doing those [four] shows [with Lzzy in late May and early June].”

It’s good to hear that the search for the band’s new vocalist is going to be entering the audition stage soon, so hopefully we can stop writing about it and getting those same eyerolls from our readers. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see who the next fill-in singer will be for Skid Row.
