In Aphelion (feat. Necrophobic, Cryptosis, etc.) Release Morbid New Single “Reaperdawn”

Black metal band/supergroup In Aphelion have a second album titled Reaperdawn coming out on August 9 and to further drum up hype, they’ve released the title track as its latest single, along with an accompanying music video.

The brainchild of guitarist/vocalist Sebastian Ramstedt, who you may recall is a member of Necrophobic, In Aphelion is continuing their deep delve into the depraved and dismal reality of black metal. According to Ramstedt, this new track is based on the notorious Heaven’s Gate cult.

“The title track is a straight-forward punch in the face. Here we join the ‘Heaven’s Gate’ cult in their last hour waiting for the vessel in the sky. The whole album centers more or less around cults and sun worship, but this is right on point. Stay with us until the dawn will free us from our sins. The reaper will be sure to leave no one behind.”

Depending on how old you are, you may remember who Heaven’s Gate was. If not, it was a religious cult that sought to leave Earth by timing their suicides with the passing of the Hale-Bopp comet, thinking the celestial body was actually a space ship. Needless to say, the crime scene photos were a complete mess and the video for “Reaperdawn” uses some of them — hence the fact that it’s gate restricted.

In Aphelion is comprised of Ramstedt (guitar/vocals), drummer Marco Prij (also Cryptosis), rhythm guitarist Johan Bergebäck (Necrophobic) and bassist Tobias Cristiansson (Necrophobic, ex-Grave…). So it should suffice to say there’s plenty of talent in the group.

Reaperdawn will be released on August 9 via Century Media Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
