Dani Filth Pushes Back Release Date Expectations On New Cradle of Filth Album But Promises New Single in October
“We need more filth!” is a sentence uttered frequently by the producers of House of Dragon and by anyone awaiting the follow-up to Cradle of Filth’s 2021 album Existence is Futile. Vocalist Dani Filth has been teasing a new Cradle of Filth album for a while now, saying back in March that we could see the new album—and with it the unholy collaboration between Cradle of Filth and Ed Sheeran that we’ve been promised forever—by the end of this year. In an interview with TotalRock that took place at Hellfest and was reported on by Metal Injection, Dani Filth scaled back expectations a little bit, talking about a new single at the beginning of October but probably not seeing the new album until at least February of next year. Here’s what he said:
“The new single will come out at the beginning of October prior to our European tour… So, yeah, a new single before the album that’s coming out — I’m going to say the end of February, but I’d be lying. ‘Cause I’ve got no idea. But it’s around that time.”
While it’s a little disappointing to hear that the full album won’t be out as early as originally indicated, obviously it’s better that they take their time in getting everything right. As for that track with Sheeran, Filth said in March that it would be on the album but said in May that it would be on a special edition version of the album, so it would seem unlikely that the new single being released in October is the Ed Sheeran track. So we’ll have to spend until next year wondering what in the name of all that is holy that’s going to sound like.
