Heavy Metal Supergroup Category 7 Drop Their Latest Single “Mousetrap”
Stop what you’re doing and check this shit out. Category 7’s latest single “Mousetrap” kicks ass and you owe it to yourself to jam it as loud as you can, especially if you regularly find yourself wondering what Anthrax would sound like if John Bush were still in the band…
Okay, that might be a little reductive when describing what Category 7 is, but damn it, I want to live in that alternate reality (no shade to Joey Belladonna, mind you). It’s just that since the band features John Bush (Armored Saint, Anthrax), Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob, Sonic Universe, Noturnall), Phil Demmel (Machine Head, Kerry King, Vio-Lence), Jack Gibson (Exodus), and Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall, Overkill), this shit just goes hard.
With their self-titled debut album coming out later this month, Category 7 have been pulling out all the stops. Their previous two singles kicked ass and after getting a nod from Metallica’s James Hetfield on the band’s official podcast, they’re absolutely ready to tear shit up.
Speaking of the single, Bush described how the song makes him feel, as well as the inspiration behind it.
“The music for this one felt like a mysterious caper to me. I drew inspiration from The Three Musketeers where a police tactic was used to apprehend someone who went to the residence of a person who was previously arrested. The whole thing feels like a black and white movie with scenes of entrapment, interrogation, and a corrupt warden. Even though it feels like something old, it also feels like it could be applied to what is happening in our modern justice system. Round and round we go.”
Category 7 will release their self-titled album on July 26 via Metal Blade Records. You can preorder your copy today.
