Sh*t That Comes Out Today: June 28, 2024

0

As far as major releases go, this week’s a little light. Thankfully, 200 Stab Wounds’ new one is enough to wash away the disgusting shitshow that happened on TV last night, so excuse me while I play it loud enough that gray matter seeps out my ears.

200 Stab Wounds

Manual Manic Procedures (Metal Blade Records)

This is the big bad of the week. We all know these boys from Ohio kill, so let’s not kid ourselves. Manual Manic Procedures is the thing you’re gonna be listening to if you subsist on brutal, gory death metal.

Amarok

Resilience (Vulture Print)

More than a decade after the release of their debut self-titled album, California-based doom metal quartet Amarok are back with their follow up, Resilience. Comprised of just five tracks, this one’s got the droning, rhythmic sound of funeral doom mixed with the attack found in black metal. The album also features guest vocals by Neurosis’ Dave Edwardson and Mizmor’s A.L.N.

Dååth

The Deceivers (Instrumental) (Metal Blade Records)

Okay, I’ll admit this one’s a bit of a cheater’s pick but who’s gonna stop me?! Dååth’s The Deceivers was an incredible release not too long ago and being able to hear the nuance in their composition is a treat. And at least now you can more easily pretend you’re as good as Sean Zatorsky.

Limbonic Art

Opus Daemoniacal (Kyrck Productions & Armour)

This one-man Norwegian black metal act is back with its ninth full-length release. As the brainchild of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Vidar “Daemon” Jensen, Opus Daemoniacal is definitely more old-school in its black metal leanings, though it still sounds massive in scope.

White Stones

Memoria Viva (Reigning Phoenix Music)

Spanish progressive death metal isn’t something we generally get to feature on the website, but thanks to White Stones’ new release, we can do just that. Founded by Opeth bassist Martín Mendéz, this release is chock-full of sick bass grooves that really stand out here. This one’s got a unique flavor that’s absolutely worth checking out.
