If Megadeth Ever Gets Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, You Bet David Ellefson Will Be There

Getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a major accomplishment for any band — it’s the culmination of decades of hard work and dedication to a craft. And while metal is woefully under-represented in the Hall, one band that should absolutely make the cut is Megadeth. Just looking at their classic lineups alone, they deserve it and I don’t think that’s a controversial take.

One of the more interesting aspects of a band’s induction into the Hall is whether they allow former members to jump up on stage to accept the award. As we all know with Megadeth, the band has been a sort of revolving door, as members have come and gone over the decades. For David Ellefson, who played bass with the band for a majority of the time, it’s not even a question — he’ll be there.

His plans to be at the festivities was discussed during a recent interview with Rebel Radio 92.5 FM (Chicago) DJ Scott Davidson.

“My attitude is, when you get invited to the party, you always RSVP yes. Just always go, you know, because that’s where the action is. Why not go and celebrate your own work in such a cool way like that.”

For those that don’t remember, Ellefson’s time with the band came to an end after intimate and explicit conversations that eventually led to a video of him beating his meat got posted all over social media. Frontman Dave Mustaine didn’t take to kindly to the controversy and canned Ellefson.

It’s uncertain if Ellefson’s appearance at a Rock Hall induction would make things more awkward, but There’s certainly something to be said about having the O.G. back in the fold, even if it’s only for the induction. But who knows? This whole conversation could be moot as hell, since it’s unclear if the academy would ever give a band like Megadeth the time of day…
