Chilean President Gets the Gift of Metal from Sweden’s Prime Minister
I know you guys hate when we talk politics here on MetalSucks, but I promise this is a good one! We’ve heard multiple times in the past of Scandinavian heads of state sharing their region’s biggest export — metal — to their counterparts, but it’s happened yet again.
While recently visiting Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Chilean president Gabriel Boric received what could be one of the coolest gift packages: a whole mess of heavy metal vinyl. We’re talking Evergrey, Meshuggah, Enforcer, In Flames… the list goes on. It’s a veritable smorgasbord of heavy metal goodness.
The gift was documented in an Instagram post by the prime minister, who wrote:
“Visit by the President of Chile Gabriel Boric. We talked about our both countries’ strong support for Ukraine and the green transition, among other things. And because Boric happens to be a big fan of Swedish rock, I surprised by handing over a collection of vinyl records that we put together with the help of some of Sweden’s top rock and metal bands. Swipe to see the reaction.
“Swedish music export is a Swedish pride.”
There’s no word as to how Boric felt about the gift, though looking at the image above, he sure looks… surprised…
