DevilDriver Tease Something New Involving Former Drummer John Boecklin
It actually hasn’t been all that long since we last heard from long-running metal act DevilDriver. It was just a little over a year ago that they released their 10th album, Dealing with Demons Volume II. And it was only last fall that they embarked on their “Double Trouble Live II” tour where they co-headlined with Cradle of Filth. But apparently fans must be really impatient, because frontman Dez Fafara claims that fans have been blowing up his inbox asking why they’ve been so quiet lately. When I think of DevilDriver, the word “quiet” doesn’t ever come to mind.
The band teased something new coming soon on their Instagram, but was super vague about it and left one major question unanswered. Here’s what they posted on Instagram:
“What’s @devildriver doing it’s been so quiet ..? That’s what fills my DMs daily so allow me to enlighten you …….#WaitForIt #BandOfBrothers @michaelspreitzer @davierperezortega @ibanezguy88 @john_boecklin #Miller. Where’s my WretchedCrew ?!?”
Now, you’ll notice that the post tags original drummer and founding member John Boecklin who left the band in 2014 to start Bad Wolves. However, it also tags current drummer Davier Pérez who has been with the band for the past two years. Unless DevilDriver is going to be transforming into a double drumming band, which seems unlikely, then there’s a big question mark over the drum kit in whatever it is they’re teasing.
Regardless, the announcement of something new from DevilDriver is always good news, and fans are already getting very excited about the prospect of Boecklin’s involvement. We wait with bated breath for whatever the full announcement is going to be when it finally comes.
