Power Trip Played Their First Full Set with Seth Gilmore on Vocals

0

Nearly four years after the untimely death of Power Trip frontman Riley Gale, his surviving bandmates once again returned to the stage for their first full performance back under that banner. Taking place during the No Values Festival last night at The Glass House in Pomona, California, video is now surfacing online of this current iteration of Power Trip with Skourge and Fugitive frontman Seth Gilmore behind the mic.

This wasn’t the first time Gilmore’s performed some of these songs on stage. That distinction would go to the handful of times Power Trip had “reunited” for a couple songs following a Fugitive gig, of which Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez is a member. Still, this was the first time that surviving members Blake Ibanez (guitar, vocals), Nick Stewart (guitar, vocals), Chris Whetzel (bass) and Chris Ulsh (drums) got to rip through an entire Power Trip set since Gale’s tragic passing.

Just by watching the clips below it’s readily apparent just how much of a cathartic release the gig was for both the band members and the people tearing shit up in the pit. The setlist for Power Trip’s return to the stage was:

  1. Soul Sacrifice
  2. Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Axe)
  3. Firing Squad
  4. Hornet’s Nest
  5. Nightmare Logic
  6. Crucifixation
  7. Divine Apprehension
  8. Suffer No Fool
  9. Drown (Intro)
  10. Heretic’s Fork
  11. Crossbreaker
  12. Manifest Decimation

Encore:

  1. The Hammer of Doubt

Following last night’s show, the band is scheduled to play a number of shows, including one stop this Sunday at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, as well as one in Dallas, Texas on July 6 at The Factory and one on August 24 at the Knockdown Center in New York City.
