Chef and Actor Matty Matheson Welcomes Speed to Canada By Sending Them 30 Pizzas

I’ve never understood the prank of sending someone a whole bunch of pizzas. How is that a prank? Most likely, the pizza place is going to make you pay in advance, and then you’ve just bought someone a whole bunch of pizzas. Sending a bunch of pizzas to someone is something you should probably reserve for people you actually like.

Renowned chef, actor, and hardcore fan Matty Matheson seems to understand that sending someone a ridiculous number of pizzas is a gift and not a prank, as he did it to welcome Australian hardcore band Speed to his country when they stopped in Toronto, Ontario. They’re currently on tour supporting Knocked Loose alongside Show Me the Body and Loathe. In what could likely be the most wholesome metal story of the day, the band received 30 pizzas for their show, which they naturally shared, as I’m pretty sure eating that many pizzas would render them incapable of rocking out.

The band posted a picture of themselves with the pies on Twitter alongside the caption:

“Thank you @mattymatheson for sending the tour 30 pizza pies! This was so gun!”

That’s probably a typo and the band meant to call it “fun” and not “gun,” unless that’s some sort of Australian slang term that I don’t know about. But, either way, I think it sounds cool and I’m going to start adding “That was so gun” into my vocabulary.

Knocked Loose only have a few dates left on their current tour with Speed, Show Me the Body, and Loathe, but here’s where you can catch them on the remainder of their tour:

06/07 Raleigh, NC @ The Ritz
06/08 Atlanta, GA @ The Eastern
06/09 St. Petersburg, FL @ Jannus Live
