Dream Evil Announce New Album Metal Gods, Release Title Track That Pays Tribute to Metal
If there’s one thing that all traditional heavy metal bands must do, it’s write a song about shit like “the power of metal,” how legacy bands still pave the way, and how metal “will never die.” Everyone from Judas Priest to Manowar has done it, so who would Swedish metal outfit Dream Evil be if they didn’t follow suit? I mean, it’s not like they’ve shied away from the topic before…
Earlier today, the band announced that they’ll be releasing a brand new album titled Metal Gods via Century Media Records this July 26. To mark the occasion, they dropped the album’s title track as its first single and wouldn’t you know it — it’s about metal.
“[‘Metal Gods’ is] all about our Heavy Metal heroes in the past and present, a tribute to the Metal Gods who created and perfected the genre Heavy Metal. It’s always a blast to work with Patric Ullaeus and to watch the magic he creates…Play LOUD and enjoy!”
There’s no word where this song would land in “The Book of Heavy Metal,” but if you’ve heard one of these songs, you’ve pretty much heard them all. Frontman Niklas Isfeldt once again sings the praises of our preferred musical genre, touting bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest as his go-to inspirations.
If this is exactly the kind of heavy metal you dig, you can preorder your copy of Metal Gods right now. The band also has some live shows in Sweden (and one in the U.S.) in the near future. Be sure to check out the full list of dates below.
