Year of the Knife’s Madi Watkins Joined Twitching Tongues During Philly Show
A heartwarming moment happened near the tail end of Twitching Tongues‘ show this past Saturday in Philadelphia, as Year of the Knife vocalist Madi Watkins joined the band on stage to get a breakdown going.
The “I’m not crying, you’re crying” moment happened as Twitching Tongues was playing their final song of the set, “World War V.” With the end of the song coming up, Watkins was brought out on stage so she could close things out on vocals. In the video clip posted below by Madi’s husband and Year of the Knife guitarist Brendon Watkins, you can see Twitching Tongues vocalist Colin Young hug Madi once she’s done with her part.
For those that don’t know the whole story, Watkins’ long road to recovery started when the band was involved in a serious accident while traveling from Utah to Colorado. According to first person accounts, the touring van collided with an 18 wheeler, resulting in everyone in the band sustaining injuries. Aaron Kisielewski and Andrew Kisielewski both suffered fractured legs and other trauma, while Brandon Watkins had a concussion.
Unfortunately, Madi took the brunt of the damage, sustaining significant injuries that left her hospitalized for a significant amount of time. Through regular updates from her husband and Year Of The Knife guitarist Brandon Watkins, fans were able to keep up to date on how she was doing. She was eventually discharged from the hospital and has since been practicing with her bandmates again.
Things are once again looking up for the band, having released their latest album last year and set to perform at the 2024 New England Metal and Hardcore fest taking place this September 21 and 22 in Worcester, Massachusetts.
