Kid Rock Admits in New Interview: “I’m Part of the Problem”
Bob Ritchie, better known as Kid Rock, once used to play apolitical music that at least he thought of as heavy metal fused with hip-hop, which is our excuse for why we can still write about him at a website called MetalSucks. Now he’s rebranded himself as a country-tinged southern rock star focused on MAGA politics. So what in the ever living fuck happened in between?
A new interview with Rolling Stone aims to figure out exactly how the man who once branded himself as the Devil Without a Cause ended up shooting at Bud Light cans in protest of the very existence of trans people. During the interview, Kid Rock seems to be, at times, argumentative for the sake of being argumentative, at other times, vulnerable, and, by the end of the interview, belligerently drunk. It’s a truly unhinged interview that you should probably read all of if you want to see an in-depth look at a man who’s incapable of getting out of his own way.
But there is one moment of odd lucidity in the interview where he talks about divisive politics in America and he makes a good point about himself:
“I’m part of the problem. I’m one of the polarizing people, no question. Sometimes I bitch about other people, then I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘Oh, yeah, why don’t you shut the fuck up too?’”
Shortly after, he follows that up with:
“It’s a rich-guy issue. No fucks left. I’m not going to get it right every time, but I know my heart’s right. I want the best for this country.”
It’s certainly nice to know that sometimes Kid Rock looks at himself and tells himself he should shut the fuck up. It would probably be even better if he would listen to himself when he says that.
