Ghost Could Debut a New Song in Their Upcoming Movie

It’s looking more and more likely that the Venn diagram of Ghost fans and internet detectives is slowly becoming two completely overlapping circles, as it seems someone found evidence of a new song that could be unveiled in the band’s forthcoming feature film Rite Here Rite Now.

Apparently titled “Future Is A Foreign Land,” the song was found by a fan that went digging in the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Repertory. The repertory is a database of musical works that are “written by ASCAP writer members, Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) writer affiliates, and musical works co-written by either an ASCAP writer member or BMI writer affiliate with a writer who is either affiliated with another performing rights organization (PRO) (whether U.S. or foreign), or not affiliated with any PRO.” Basically, if a song is written in whole or in part by someone involved in ASCAP, it shows up in the repertory.

And as luck would have it, A Ghoul Writer (aka Tobias Forge) shows up in the repertory. So do writers Salem Al Fakir and Vincent Pontare, otherwise known as the Swedish songwriting and production pair Vincent and Lagola. Both men have been credited with co-writing past Ghost songs, including “Dominion”, “Kiss The Go-Goat”, “Mary On A Cross”, and “Twenties.” Adding more credence to the existence of the song is the fact that Universal Music Publishing is listed as its publisher, so there’s that.

It really shouldn’t be too much of a stretch that there would be a new song released as part of the movie. It’s been common knowledge for a while now that Forge has had “a few songs” in the works for a while now as he gets ready for Ghost’s follow up to Impera.

Even though Papa Emeritus IV didn’t get replaced at the end of the band’s final show last year in Australia, it seems like all roads lead to Rite Here Rite Now and one way or another, the band’s story is going to move along, which is a big deal for the band’s fans. Given the title of the song, it’s likely that this will play either at a pivotal moment in the film like when the role of Papa Emeritus changes hands or it will play during the credits.

It won’t take long for us to find out if this song is real, as the movie’s set to premiere on June 20 with limited screenings in the days that follow. You can get your movie tickets wherever you do that sort of thing in your area. There will also be a soundtrack, featuring 18-tracks that will release alongside the film available in all formats. You can preorder your copy today.
