Chino Moreno is Laying Down Vocals for the New Deftones Album
When it comes to recording an album, typically one of the last tasks that gets scratched off the list is recording vocals, since it allows the artist to sing atop a mostly completed track.
In a recent Instagram post from David “Beno” Benviste, who was identified by The PRP as the founder and CEO of Deftones‘ management group Velvet Hammer, it was revealed that Moreno was in the studio. Get excited!
“Incredible trip up to Portland to see my dudes! Chino Moreno and Nick Raskulinecz.
“Some magic going on in the studio. Capturing the beauty, power, essence and energy- somewhere between space and time, presence and perspective. You don’t even know… #deftones FUTURE HEAVY”
This news is consistent with what Moreno himself told KROQ at Coachella during an interview, where he promised that the band would have an “invigorated” sound on the next record.
“We’ve just sort of been working on and off over the last year and a half. From when we started writing to where we’re sitting right now is we have a whole record recorded, all musically, and it’s pretty much my job now to finish up the vocals.
“I have this show again next week and then straight after that I go back home to Oregon and I go in the studio. So as long as that takes, I hate to put a definite time frame, because we’re not really in a rush.
“We want it to be great, I think that’s most important. But it is coming and it’s really good. We’re really excited with what we what we’ve been working on, and everybody’s jazzed.”
So there ya have it. It’s looking like we’re all inching closer to a new Deftones release.
