Exclusive: Murf’s “Pigeon Rat” Video Has Enough Blood and Gore to Choke a B-Movie Killer
A lot can go wrong on the road. From running out of gas to run-ins with murderous psychopathic taxidermists, the dudes in hardcore punk band meets GWAR sideshow Murf deal with it all in the video for their latest single “Pigeon Rat.”
As their latest single off their forthcoming album Already Dead, “Pigeon Rat” is an explosion in sonic form, as drummer Jeffrey Truckenmiller, bassist/vocalist Evan Clark, guitarists Hunter Ness and Tom Davoux, and vocalist Dan Hoffstrom rip through the track. From the moment you hit play, the biting attack in their sound cuts through whatever bullshit you’re dealing with that day to pummel you right in the face with sharp guitars, thumping rhythms, and corrosive vocals that don’t let up.
Born from some deep familial loss felt by Hoffstrom back in 2014, the band effectively formed in Minneapolis from their combined love of Robocop, horror flicks, pro wrestling, hardcore music, and their interest in writing a police protest song. Seven years after officially coming together as a band, they’ve gained a cult following, especially as each live show featuring wild costumes, horror movie props, and fake blood.
With Already Dead being the band’s third full-length effort, the band says the slate of 12 new tracks “addresses surviving a pandemic, living in the city that sparked a worldwide discussion on police brutality, the bitter-sweet feelings of nostalgia with those who are no longer here, and commenting on hyper-commercialism.” They go on to say the album might be their “darkest [and] most aggressive” one yet.
Already Dead will be released on June 7 via Learning Curve Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
