Evanescence’s Amy Lee Shuts Down Rumors That She’s Linkin Park’s New Singer
Ever since Orgy frontman and dude that knows nothing Jay Gordon let slip that he’d heard Linkin Park was reforming with a female vocalist in place of the late Chester Bennington (and eventually walked that statement back), people on the internet have been trying to suss out who this person might be. And while internet Sherlocks believe they’ve found the woman they think will take that spot in Evanescence‘s Amy Lee, she’s now come out saying she’s not involved at all.
During an interview with Canada’s iHeart Radio, Lee said that even though she was thankful that people held her in enough high regard to be considered for the spot by fans, that just wasn’t the case.
“That is an incredible compliment. I have not heard that. No, I have not been contacted or anything like that. But [I’m a] huge fan feel like our worlds, our fanbases are a lot of the same people.”
Lee said that while she’d spoken with Bennington once in a studio, that was basically the extent of her interaction with Linkin Park. And while she’s not involved at the moment, she did say she’d consider occasionally standing in if they ever needed her.
“That’s really sweet. We never… Well, did we play shows [together]? I don’t know if [both Evanescence and Linkin Park] were on a festival together or whatever. We met. We were in the studio at the same time. When we were making ‘Fallen’, I just briefly got to have a conversation or two with Chester. He was really sweet.
“But no, it’s not true. But that’s awesome. They should ask me about that. I don’t have a ton of free time, but I might do it part time.”
So there you have it. No Amy Lee in Linkin Park. You’ll just have to wake up and save yourself from that pipe dream.
