Oh Goody, Mötley Crüe’s Releasing a New Single This Friday
The day’s been a long time coming, but it seems the world is doomed to be accosted by new Mötley Crüe music later this week. We’ve known for a while that the guys were working on a new record, but some of us hoped that a crapped out hard drive or Vince Neil transporting the tapes in a sports car would lead to the eventual destruction of said new tunes, but here we are. Brace yourselves.
Set to release this Friday, the new song is titled “Dogs of War” and if that sounds familiar in a Mötley Crüe setting, that’s because the band performed under that name at London’s The Underworld last June. We’re also pretty sure the band’s already teased this track in previously posted clips, but there hasn’t been any official confirmation of that.
In addition to the announcement of a new single coming soon, the band revealed that they’d signed with Nashville-based record label Big Machine Records. Moving forward, that will be where the Crüe’s music will stem from. Neil explained how the band landed there in the first place.
“It’s a great match for us. We’re good friends with [Big Machine founder/CEO] Scott Borchetta, who put together the ‘Nashville Outlaws’ album back in 2014. His company just knows radio, how to get it out there, how to get the right people listening.”
It’s been 16 years since Mötley Crüe put out new music, with their most recent studio effort being the totally critically acclaimed* Saints Of Los Angeles. After that, the only thing we got from the band was the 2009 Greatest Hits compilation, so there’s been a whole not of nothing regarding new music for a while from Mötley Crüe.
Now, that could all be because of the extensive touring they’ve done in recent years, as well as the ongoing drama/legal battle between Mötley Crüe and their former guitarist Mick Mars, though that’s a whole other can of worms we’re not going to open here.
Still, with John 5 in the mix now, who knows — maybe this will sound good. Surely it won’t be hip hop and country and hopefully Vince Neil won’t “tubabee” all over this one. If it’s good, we’ll admit it — I just won’t put money on it.
