Doc Coyle Wants to Write Some New God Forbid This Year
Ever since they reunited back in 2022, New Jersey metalcore outfit God Forbid have gone on to do a handful of shows here and there. Since then, there hasn’t been a whole lot of talk about there being new music in the cards, though one time on his podcast Doc Coyle said the idea wasn’t completely off the table.
During a recent interview with Nickelsack Jack (as transcribed by our buddies over at Metal Injection, Coyle’s gone on record saying he likes the idea of spending time in 2024 on writing new God Forbid material. And if that doesn’t get you pumped, I don’t know what will.
“We just booked a couple shows but it’s not public information, a couple festivals we’re doing in the fall. So some really great opportunities, and you know, we’ve discussed maybe working on some music.
“But it’s just been hard for me personally to find the time to really sit down and work on that stuff because I’ve been so busy with Bad Wolves. As things kind of develop into the year, I want to really create some time to write some stuff for God Forbid. We’ll see where it goes, but you know, stuff like that.”
Why this year in particular? Well, it’s the 20th anniversary of Gone Forever, so it’s the perfect time for people to remember just how absolutely fucking badass God Forbid was. In fact, that album was so badass that Coyle revealed that the band’s considered doing some performances with that album specifically in mind.
“It’s the 20th anniversary of our Gone Forever album so we’d like to do some performances this year centered around that. I mentioned the Midwest – maybe doing Chicago or something. That would actually be really wonderful if we could come there because we always had a lot of great support in that area.”
A show where God Forbid plays the entirety of Gone Forever sounds absolutely fucking bananas. Count me in if that ever becomes a reality.
