Someone’s Selling a Ticket Stub to Dimebag’s Final Show for $15,000
Metal fans are notoriously avid collectors, from horror movie memorabilia to vinyl LPs, if we can spend ludicrous money on our passions, we’ll do it. Yet one collectors item that’s currently on the market — albeit in somewhat poor taste — is a ticket from the final Damageplan show on December 8, 2004. Or as every metalhead remembers it, the day guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell was murdered on stage.
Of course, the ticket wouldn’t normally be nearly worth that much had the former Pantera guitarist not been gunned down by a crazed fan at the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio. Along with Dimebag, fan Nathan Bray and Damageplan Head of Security Jeffrey “Mayhem” Thompson also lost their lives in the incident, while three others were injured.
Despite all that tragedy and loss associated with the ticket stub, it’s currently sitting on eBay right now with a $15,000 price tag. And while that may sound garish, it’s not totally unheard of: for example, Loudwire pointed to graded concert ticket stubs for Prince’s final show are currently on sale for $2,500 and Freddie Mercury’s final show with Queen is retailing for $999.
The Alrosa Villa was torn down in 2021 after the property was sold for $1.3 million. And while it’s a bummer there won’t be a memorial laid in Dimebag’s honor, a little good will come out of the property, as it will be turned into 180 affordable apartment units of varying sizes and affordability. As of now however, the property sits largely empty.
