Crowbar and Deicide Launch Signature Beers for Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest

What goes better with metal than beer? It makes good metal even better and it makes rap-metal vaguely tolerable. Well, the Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest: Philly is coming up on April 12-13 and, in addition to a killer lineup that includes Biohazard, Deicide, Dying Fetus, and Crowbar, two bands are creating their own signature beers that will be available exclusively at the festival.

First up is legendary New Orleans sludge metal act Crowbar who partnered with Massachusetts brewery Widowmaker Brewing to make the “Behind the Black Horizon” hazy double IPA. Here’s what Widowmaker Brewing has to say about the new beer collaboration on their Instagram:

“Here at Widowmaker it’s no secret that we worship the riff and when it comes to riffs, there is none heavier than Crowbar. So we had to come correct with a sinister brew that could hold it’s own with these sonic titans. We brewed a big Hazy DIPA loaded with Comet, Rakau, & Citra. Flavor Excess in it’s Purest Form. This beer has huge notes of mango, orange rind, and a lasting dose of resin on the finish.”

Next up is Deicide who partnered with 3 Floyd’s Brewing from Indiana to create “The Light Defeated Stout,” named after the closing track on Deicide’s upcoming album Banished by Sin.  3 Floyds’ Brewmaster Chris Boggess had this to say about the beer to the festival’s sponsor, Decibel Magazine:

“When I first heard the lambs bleating in the opening of ‘Satan Spawn, the Caco-Daemon’ I was hooked. Growing up in the buckle of the Bible Belt it was the sickest, scariest thing I’d ever heard. Deicide are one of the classic American death metal bands. And The Light Defeated is brewed in their honor, our take on a classic American style stout with the ABV coming in at 6.66%.”

Tickets for the fest are running low, so buy yours now to enjoy an experience you’ll never forget—or, if you drink too much, one that you’ll never remember.
