Outline in Color Start a GoFundMe After Their Tour Van Goes Up in Flames
In a series of very unfortunate events, Outline in Color are joining a long line of bands that have had to ask fans and total strangers for help dealing with a catastrophic situation while on tour.
According to the band and their GoFundMe page, the van that the band was using to get themselves from place to place suddenly caught fire as they were heading home from some recent performances. And while everyone was safe and accounted for, they apparently lost all of their personal belongings and the van itself was completely destroyed.
We’ll let the band explain what happened:
“Hey everyone!
“Early yesterday we were driving home from a couple performances in California and Nevada. About 2:30am and about 2 hours from home we detected a burning smell. When we checked the window we realized that the passenger rear tire was on fire.
“Quickly, we pulled over and funneled out into the 32 degree weather. Some of us without shoes and jackets. Within seconds the flames took off and in no more than ten minutes the van had completely become engulfed in flames. By the time the fire department arrived there was no more van to save.
“Somehow the trailer was barely hit and it appears that our gear has survived, however we have all individually lost a lot of personal property. Electronics, clothes, backpacks, shoes, jackets, bedding, etc etc was all completely destroyed in the fire. Additionally all of our merch and bags are permeated with smoke. The merch is likely not sellable.
“This has been a pretty tough pill to swallow with some of our biggest touring opportunities to date on the immediate horizon.
“Many of you have reached out and asked how to help and also suggested we make a go fund me so we have done that! Any help whether it be in donation, spreading the word, or a kind comment is very much appreciated.
“We aren’t 100% sure how we are going to rectify this situation but we are determined to not miss any dates booked this year if it is at all possible.”
The band are currently seeking to raise $10,000 to help cover losses and potentially get back on their feet. As of this posting, they’ve managed to raise $6,635 from 124 donors. If you can contribute at all, consider doing so.
