Sh*t That Comes Out Today – March 22, 2024
Time’s running out for you to vote for the best albums of January and February. Don’t miss your chance to weigh in before the March poll goes up!
Alestorm
Voyage Of The Dead Marauder (Napalm Records)
We all know the drill at this point. Pirate metal. This time around they’ve put out a five song EP with the final song titled “Cock,” so you kinda should know what you’re getting yourself into with this one without having to hit play at all.
Civerous
Maze Envy (20 Buck Spin)
This sophomore album from Los Angeles-based death/doom outfit Civerous is unrelenting. From the get go, it’s technically sound while still working to drag your ass down into its depths.
Hamferð
Men Guðs hond er sterk (Metal Blade Records)
Yet another death/doom release, Hamferð’s Men Guðs hond er sterk recently received a 4/5 from our very own Mandy Scythe. After spending some time with the record, she said the following: “If you’re looking for a banger of a record with a bunch of singles, this isn’t it, but if you still have the patience for a full album with all its stops, starts, and the overall story it has to tell, this is definitely worth a listen.”
Mastiff
Deprecipice (MNRK Heavy)
Metallic sludge is in full effect with this U.K. band. It’s raw, it’s loud, and completely unrepentant in its delivery. Mastiff don’t pull any punches, so if you’re looking for something brutal to sink your teeth into, this might be your jam for the week.
Zombi
Direct Inject (Relapse Records)
This duo based out of Pittsburgh put out an epic sounding album with Direct Inject. Featuring nine new songs on the record, the band uses synth, bass, and drums to create spaced out metal that sounds equal parts eerie and massive at the same time.
