The Dillinger Escape Plan Guitarist Ben Weinman Now Owns a Coffee Shop
Move over beer and coffee collabs; someone in the metal game has started his own coffee business. The Dillinger Escape Plan‘s guitarist and co-founder Ben Weinman has opened a coffee shop in Flemington, NJ.
Weinman recently announced Alkemy Coffee Co. in collaboration with his partner Valentina Killough. And while it’s not quite open just yet, he said that when it finally opens, it will be “heavy.”
“For those of you who have not heard, my partner and I, @awakenedaromatherapy are opening a community spot in our hometown of Flemington, NJ,” wrote Weinman. “Please go follow @alkemycoffeeco for more info. Our opening is gonna be heavy!!!!!
“Hopefully, we don’t get shut down before we make it to week two after that one. I’m hoping this spot will be a place where I can meet many of you who have been my virtual friends for so long. Oh, and here is a little tidbit, our coffee is roasted by Golden Lantern Coffee Roasters which is co-owned by our long-time friend and tour-mate [Misha Mansoor of Periphery]! Stuff is damn good. Maybe one day we will do some MathDjentJams over there together.”
Speaking of the new business venture on Instagram, Weinman said the location was going to be “more than a cafe.” Fingers crossed that it means the Garden State’s also going to be getting a new venue of sorts once this bad boy opens.
In addition to coffee, Alkemy Coffee will include other beverages and a nice space to enjoy yourself.
“We’re brewing something magical for your mind, body, and soul — handcrafted coffee drinks, custom medicinal tea blends, wellness events, live music, and a space to sip, work and relax in good company. Keep an eye out for grand opening details coming soon!”
They will be keeping it in the metal family by serving coffee roasted by Golden Lantern Coffee Roasters, which is co-owned by Misha Mansoor from Periphery.
Here’s hoping this hits the ground running and proves to be a successful business. I know there are plenty of metalheads that would love to get caffeinated by one of the most energetic dudes on any stage.
