None So Cute: Watch Cryptopsy Guitarist’s Seven-Year-Old Son Rock Out on Stage
As an elder millennial and aging metalhead, it’s getting easier and easier to look around at the younger generation and start wondering if I’m the one that’s becoming out of touch with things, before ultimately deciding that it’s actually the kids that are wrong.
Yet every once in a while we get a cool moment shown to us by one of you guys and it reminds me that it’s not all doom and gloom. Metal will live on and the kids will embrace it. Take seven-year-old William Donaldson — as the son of Cryptopsy guitarist Chris Donaldson, the boy’s got a front row seat to brutal Canadian death metal whenever he wants. And while some kids might not take an interest in their parents’ work or find it passé, this little rocker embraced the shit out of it during the band’s performance last Friday in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
As you’ll see in the clip below, the little dude is standing next to his pops while he plays “Phobophile” with the rest of Cryptopsy. Though his long hair is restrained by the heavy duty hearing protection, you can tell the little dude wants to headbang hard and windmill to his heart’s content. He’s present and rocking out along with the rest of the crowd.
It’s always so cool to see a young metalhead engaging with the music. It’s another thing entirely to see a young metalhead son bang his head to his father’s death metal band. As the video description says, “this adorable moment…proves metal knows no age limits.”
