Zack De La Rocha Marched in a Free Palestine Demonstration
This past weekend, Zack De La Rocha of Rage Against the Machine fame was spotted at a Free Palestine protest in Los Angeles. A photo featuring the vocalist started circulating on social media, showing De La Rocha marching among the people in the protest.
According to the fan that posted the image, De La Rocha was vocal and active throughout the engagement, chanting anti-war slogans while demanding the safety and human rights of the Palestinian people.
“We marched together and sang free free free Palestine!”
Ever since the brutal and indefensible October 7 attack that Hamas committed on Israeli soil, killing innocent civilians in the process, shit has gone completely sideways in the region. Backed by U.S. money and munitions, Israel has been systematically committing genocide, displacing millions of Palestinians and killing tens of thousands — most of them women and children. The wanton bombing runs and leveling of the entirety of Gaza has also now led to one of the worst famines in decades, as Israel also denies aid from getting into the embattled region.
The fact that he was at this protest is not unusual for the political figure, but he’s not been out in the public eye since drummer Brad Wilk spilled the news that the band reportedly won’t be playing live again. That news came after the band cancelled a tour because of De La Rocha’s ruptured ACL — something he is clearly healing a bit from, as he is now able to march.
It’s also been rare lately to catch Rage Against the Machine out in the world. When they were inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. only guitarist Tom Morello showed up to receive the honor.
Whatever he has in store, it’s great to see him out, about, and standing up for what he believes in. It’s clear that whether he’s playing with Rage Against The Machine or not, he’s still taking the time to advocate for social justice.
