Sh*t That Comes Out Today – February 23, 2024
So, anyone else planning on announcing a reunion? Seems to be all the rage these days. Just let give us the scoop and we’ll let the world know.
Amaranthe
The Catalyst (Nuclear Blast)
Swedish metal act Amaranthe have returned with their seventh full-length LP The Catalyst and if you like what they describe as “thunderous, melodic futurism,” you’re boy are you going to love this one. With a dozen new tracks, this is the first release to feature vocalist Mikael Sehlin.
Atoll
Inhuman Implants (Unique Leader Records)
Spoliers, this one got a pretty favorable review score from our very own C.C. DeLorean. Featuring some “really heavy shit that’s also smartly written and fun to listen to,” this one’s yours if you enjoy brutal beatdowns coupled with actually good songwriting.
Darkest Hour
Perpetual | Terminal (MNRK Heavy)
It’s been a long time coming, but Darkest Hour is back with their latest album Perpetual | Terminal. Described by our reviewer Mandy Scythe as “a significant chapter in the band’s nearly 30-year career,” this one is both their landmark 10th studio album and a triumphant, yet introspective, return to form.
Job For A Cowboy
Moon Healer (Metal Blade Records)
Talk about a triumphant return! After a decade away, this one got a straight up 5/5 from DeLorean, who said the album “has the potential to generate a staggering amount of momentum” for the band. Seriously, give this one a try because it absolutely rips.
Mick Mars
The Other Side of Mars (1313 LLC)
If you would have told me back in early 2022 that we’d not only have John 5 in Mötley Crüe but it would be at the expense of Mick Mars’ involvement of the band, I wouldn’t have believed they’d make such a move. Yet here we are, Mars is out on his own and fighting a drag down legal battle against his former bandmates while releasing a solo record. The singles off this one have been creative and definitely proof that he’s still got a lot left in the tank at 72 years old.
