Midnight Announce New Album Hellish Expectations, First Single “F.O.A.L.” Out Now
Cleveland’s own one-man wrecking crew Midnight has made their legion of violators very pleased in recent days with the double-whammy announcement of a new record and the release of its first single, “F.O.A.L.”
Titled Hellish Expectations and set for release on March 8 via Metal Blade Records, the new album is their sixth full-length release and once again the brainchild of the band’s mastermind, Athenar. Looking forward to the new release, he said the slate of ten new songs was a no-frills, take-no-prisoners kind of affair.
“It’s a knuckle dragger with a fat cutoff. Pure testosterone meat. Probably the most concise and straight to the point Midnight album to date, and all written in a weekend.
“The album was written on pure reaction upon leaving the studio after listening to raw tracks from the previous album Let There Be Witchery. The final mix of that album was good, but at the time of laying it down in the studio, I didn’t like what I was hearing and demanded a new leviathan of an album to be written that weekend.”
As for the single “F.O.A.L.” (or “Fuck Off And Live), the legendary David Brodsky of My Good Eye directed the firey music video that you can watch below — though you’ll have to click through to YouTube because all the fiery debauchery of the video is apparently too much for internet at large.
Speaking to the track itself, Athenar reveals that it’s really just a big “fuck you” to people that want the easy way out of life.
“‘Fuck Off And Live’ is an ode to the people who peacefully want to die to escape the realities of life, while they should really live and suffer.”
Hellish Expectations will be available on March 8, though you can preorder your copy today.
Later this month, the band will hit the road with a single date in Los Angeles on February 24 before heading out to Australia for a short stint. Then in April, they’ll punch their ticket over to Europe for a more than month-long trek out that way. You can check out the tour dates below.
