O’Keefe Kids Dust Off Their Deutsch for Cover of Rammstein’s “Keine Lust”

Singing someone else’s music can be hard. Singing for a video that’ll be posted for the world to watch on YouTube is harder. Doing all that while singing in a foreign language you probably don’t really know that well? That’s hard as Hell, but the latest video from the O’Keefe Music Foundation has all that — and it’s done by a buncha kids.

The new video features a handful of youths, seemingly ranging from pre-teen to late teen, covering the awesome Rammstein track “Keine Lust” off their 2004 album Reise, Reise. As with most Rammstein songs, some concessions had to be made regarding the lyrical content — no talk about masturbation here, thankfully. But the cover’s very well done, especially considering these kids are still learning how to make music.

Seriously, I know I keep saying this about the O’Keefe Music Foundation, but they work they do to get kids interacting with the music they like while giving them an outlet is extremely commendable. The level of care that goes into each cover, recorded in a professional studio no less, is amazing. And don’t even get me started on the video production quality. I wish I had that when I was in my shitty metal band back in middle school…

While there are plenty of rock schools for kids around the country, I don’t know of very many that give as much attention to their students’ performances online as the O’Keefe Music Foundation does. And that’s not even mentioning the ungodly amount of rock and metal they cover as a collective. From Down’s “Ghosts Along the Mississippi” to Slipknot‘s “Before I Forget,” there’s plenty there to enjoy.

The O’Keefe Music Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Ohio that’s given kids a place to experience music creation in a professional-level environment. They offer music lessons, recording sessions, and film accompanying music videos for free, regardless of their family’s economic status.

If you think the foundation’s mission is worthwhile and have a few bucks to spare, why not help ’em out? You can make a donation to the O’Keefe Music Foundation online.
