Varg Vikernes Praises Kanye West for Wearing a Burzum Shirt, World No Longer Makes Sense

Well, it didn’t take long for 2024 to get weird on us. A couple of days ago, Nazi sympathizer and rapper Kanye West was seen in a photo wearing a Burzum shirt. Now, normally I would have ignored this shit because fuck Nazis and whatnot….

But then things apparently went topsy turvy behind my back when Burzum creator, convicted murder, and self-described racist Kristian “Varg” Vikernes praised Kanye for the shirt choice.

While shilling for his new book, Vikernes said he was asked by many to respond to the photo, where he argued that West wasn’t “ripping off” black metal and its style, but rather it was fine that the African-American rapper — who would absolutely be hated by the Hitler he portends to love soooooo much — was inspired by Burzum.

In a somewhat long thread of tweets, Vikernes said it “shows courage to publicly wear a Burzum shirt, like he has done.” He expanded on that idea, saying doing so usually results in cancellation and boycott within the music industry, which he says with the Twitter equivalent of a wink and a nod is “under the control of… ‘a certain group’.”

Don’t forget, this is the same guy who used to spout bullshit on his now defunct YouTube channel that white people should “appreciate and protect” their race and how using eugenics to “attract a good wife” was a sane stance to take in 2015.

He even goes on to ask how many “white” (his quotation marks, not mine) artists would also wear a Burzum shirt out in public before giving West props.

You know what’s actually courageous? Courageous is running into a burning building to save another person. Courageous is standing up for the rights and freedoms of other people. Any shit eating troglodyte can go online and buy a Burzum shirt.

And don’t say this is a freedom of speech issue, because that freedom doesn’t keep you from getting criticized for being a racist or anti-Semitic piece of shit.

So if you had “Varg praises Kanye” on your 2024 bingo card, good for you. The rest of us will have to live in a weird ass world.
