Deicide Rang in the Holiday with Their New Song “Bury The Cross…With Your Christ”
If all the Jesus hype leading up to Christmas has you worn down and weary, have no fear! Iconic death metal outfit Deicide dropped a brand new heavy hitting single titled “Bury The Cross…With Your Christ” just in time for the holy day. Or rather, just in time to make the holy day more blasphemous.
The new Christ-hating anthem is typical Deicide fare in lyrical themes for sure, and musically, it’s also in line with their heavy-as-hell death metal nature and sees them pushing that sound even further. Like a blasphemous herald angel, vocalist Glen Benton hyped up the track upon its release.
“Welcome to the Feast of Fools and bow before your lord almighty the end is upon us….bury the cross.”
“Bury The Cross…With Your Christ” was recorded at Smoke & Mirrors, and as is often their way, Deicide headed up the production on the track. Engineering was handled by Jeramie Kling, with Taylor Nordberg helping out at the soundboard as well. The mixing and mastering of the latest track was done by Josh Wilbur.
The video, which we’ve embedded here but still has to be watched over on the Tube because of age-restrictions because of its blasphemous nature, was directed by David Brodsky for My Good Eye, who also handled duties of cinematographer, editor, graphics, and post-production effects. Alternatively, Allison Woest of My Good Eye contributed as producer, assistant director, cinematographer, and editor. Kelly Harris handled the special effects makeup and practical FX. Gerard Barscheski plays the grieving father in the video, making it feel a bit more personal than some of their other releases.
We hope this means there will be more from Deicide soon, especially—dare we dream—a new record, but only time will tell.
