A New Coal Chamber Album is Still a Possibility

0

When Coal Chamber reunited last year, it was unclear whether this would mean anything more than touring, but now, there’s a definite confirmed rumor that more music could be in their future.

The current lineup of the band as of last year is Dez Fafara, guitarist Miguel Rascón, bassist Nadja Peulen, and drummer Mike Cox. Their last record was their 2015 reunion record Rivals, and they’ve been silent since when it comes to new music.

But now, via an interview with Heavy, which you can watch in full below, Fafara basically says “we’ll see” when it comes to the possibility of a new album, and confirmed that he’s working on new music.

“I’m not a guy who sits around and watches TV, so there’s always music in the works. That’s what I gotta say. There’s always music in the works, man, and after what I survived in my past year, I’m gonna make as much music as I possibly can. If something happened to me today, my wife has hard drives and hard drives of music from me, making it with different people and different circumstances. But it’s all I do.

“I woke up this morning, and we were having coffee, and after 15 minutes, she looked at me, she’s, like, ‘Good morning,’ actually saying to me, like, ‘What are you doing?’ And I was writing a song. I was on my phone writing notes, and I wrote something I think is fantastic. So this is kind of what I do. I can’t stop. I think there’s a drive there. So we’ll see.”

For those unfamiliar with the band’s origin story, they were initially around and pioneering the nu metal sound between 1993 and 2003, and then got back together between 2011 and 2016. Fafara then went on to perform Coal Chamber songs with DevilDriver after the band broke up, and in 2018, made statements that the band was done. But then in 2022, they got back together, and now, it looks like there could very likely be new music in the works. Let’s hope it happens before they change their mind.
