The Pandemic Slowed Creed’s Return, So At Least Lockdown Was Good For One Thing…

0

I know that headline may be a little inflammatory, so let’s be clear — the pandemic was an avoidable catastrophe that caused the deaths of way too many people around the world. It sucked. It was terrible. But maybe there’s a silver lining to the whole thing in that it gave us precious months living in a post-Creed world before the news broke that they would be flaring back up like a bad case of the herp.

While chatting about the band’s return with YouTube channel Belgian Jasper (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), Creed guitarist and alleged Pantera reunion member that nearly was Mark Tremonti revealed that there had been talks about reuniting well before the pandemic shut everything down back in 2020.

“Yeah. You just have to definitely be almost like a politician when you’re talking about it. You’ve gotta say, ‘Oh, you never know. When the timing is right.’ You have your lines that you’ll have in case that question comes up. And to be honest, we’ve been planning stuff and talking since before COVID about when the timing would be right. And when COVID hit, it kind of derailed things.”

Since things have largely gone back to normal, we’ve since learned that not only is Creed coming back, but they’ve got two cruises lined up and a big ass U.S. tour planned. Couple that with the impending presidential election and you’ve got a perfect storm of suck.

To that end, Tremonti said now was the perfect time to see the return of Creed, and it’s all thanks to *checks notes* sports athletes’ musical tastes?!

“A bunch of athletes have been using [a Creed] song as kind of their go-to-battle kind of music. When the tour went on sale, we get to see all the ages of people buying the tickets and if it’s male, female or whatnot. And we were blown away to see that the biggest fanbase buying the tickets are between 25 and 35 years old. So a lot of these people were too young to be around when Creed was touring back in the day. So it’s good to see a whole new generation of Creed fans out there.”

So now that we’re here, the reality of Creed’s return is something we can’t avoid. So if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to listen to “My Sacrifice” 30 times in a row to inoculate myself from the coming Creed-emic. If you want to get yourself some herd immunity, you can catch the band at the tour dates below.
