Korn Announce a Pair of European Shows with Spiritbox Opening One of Them

0

Nu metal godfathers Korn are going to play a pair of one-off European shows in 2024, with one of those shows including Spiritbox as openers.

The first of two dates will take place during the Hills of Rock Festival in Bulgaria on July 25, but fans of old-school and new school nu metal will want to pay special attention to Korn’s July 30 gig. That’s because while they’ll be playing the Spodek arena in Katowice, Poland that day, they’ll also have rising act Spiritbox on the bill.

The shows are Korn’s first announced shows for 2024, and many are wondering why the band is going overseas, but only making a few stops instead of doing a full tour.

Tickets for the Spodek arena show are on sale today. This will mark the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut album, so many are excited to see if they will play a lot of old-school hits on this run.

In a 2022 interview with Metal Hammer, Davis says that performing the song “Daddy,” which deals with child abuse, is a really emotionally hard song to play, so we’ll have to see if it’s one he is up to tackling.

“I felt like I robbed the world of doing that live for so long,” he says. “I felt like I owed it to our fans that were hardcore enough to come and see us on the 20th anniversary of that album, but I don’t wanna do it again. Going out and touring that record, I realised how dark it is—It’s some depressing shit. As we got into Follow The Leader, it became more about groove. The emotion was there, but it wasn’t that particular darkness we captured on that first record. In a few years, it’s the 30th anniversary and … I don’t think I wanna go through that again. It was difficult, and I think I was proving to myself that I could do it too.”

We’re not sure if we can expect any more touring announcements from the band, but we’re hoping they’ll end up doing more than these two one-off dates.
