Andrew W.K. Reappears as a Newlywed with Actress Kat Dennings
After a looong hiatus away from the internet, Andrew W.K. is back with an announcement that’s not necessarily musical: He just got married.
W.K. turned a bunch of heads in 2021 when he released his record God Is Partying in September and announced support shows. Then, without warning, he postponed the shows, deleted his social media presence, and went off-grid.
Initially in 2021, W.K. said on Facebook that all 2021 tour dates would be bumped to 2022, and he would still play Furnace Fest. On Facebook, he said:
“Andrew W.K.’s 2021 tour dates are being rescheduled for 2022. All tickets for 2021 will be honored, and refunds will be available at the point of purchase through September 27th.”
However, it was not to be. On September 25, the night before Furnace Fest, he dropped of the bill, “due to circumstances beyond our control,” according to the festival. Then on the day of Furnace Fest, he dropped off social media entirely. There was never any announcement about the tour dates getting rescheduled, and the tour never happened.
Now, as of earlier this week, W.K. is finally back online and announcing an update, but it has nothing to do with the cancelled shows or any new music. Instead, he shared that he got married to his wife, actor Kat Dennings.
We’d like to take this time to point out that, as much as we may love a good juicy story, celebrities don’t owe us anything, so if W.K. is off to live a quiet life in the mountains with his new partner, we’re happy for him. We just hope that any fans who bought tickets to shows get their money back, and we still hope for new music if the urge ever strikes him again.
